Why do people send their children to daycare even when they have a day off from work?

I understand sending them to daycare...some people just have to work, but what I don't understand is why they still send them even if they have the day off. I'm a stay at home mom and I cherish every moment I have with my kids and even when I did work, I was devastated to be missing that time with them.
